I don't even know if anyone reads this anymore, but I thought it was worth a post about finding out what level of coupons works for you. I have been couponing for about 5 years and I have not couponed the same way for a 3 month stretch the whole time! :) I have had stretches where I bought four papers a week, printed every coupon that came out, and grabbed handfuls of blinkes whenever I could! (I can't believe I was that person!! :/), I have had a dollar store expandable coupon envelope, small binders and large binders (for a while, I even had two 3" binders!! lol) and I have also had long stretches where I use no coupons at all, and 6 months later I open my binder to coupons that expired months ago.
I thoroughly enjoyed every stage I was in. However, for me, sometimes it was more than I could maintain without making it my life. Now I am at the stage that I don't buy any papers (I found that only about 5% of them were things I would buy anyway), and print very few coupons. I get some coupons from Kroger in the mail that are awesome (I had one today I used for free laundry detergent)!! I pick up blinkie or tearpad coupons in the store, get catilinas, use digital coupons, and find them in random places like magazines etc... I have one standard size mailing envelope that I keep my coupons in and carry them in my purse at all times.
Anyway, I say all this to say that wherever you are, there are so many ways to coupon! If you make it your job and have a stockpile that resembles a store in your basement, good for you! If you are like me and it's a light hobby, that's ok too! You can still save 50% on your grocery bill with very minimal effort!
Anyway, I will try to highlight some of the deals in case any of you are wanting to hit up this great sale at kroger. From Randalls:
last time I was in Wal Mart they did not price match the in ad coupons in the Randalls ad, which is how most of the Randalls sales are presented. It states in their policy that they should, but if the employees don't know that it doesn't matter. So, I'm leary of trying again. I think its worth trying for one deal though.

The New Deal: Price matching at Wal-Mart
I've been struggling with Couponing lately. No stores double any more except Randall's (and that's only the first coupon so no stockpiling on cheap/free items which is essential to real savings). It also seems like coupons have gotten worse and sales are not as good. Or is it just me? So, I have resorted to not getting my papers anymore and just buying generic, which is totally fine. But even generic is never free! So, in an effort to get my "free fix" on, I began to price match at Wal Mart and print what coupons I can. I figured I would share this with whoever reads my blog. The cool thing about this, is that now anyone can do exactly what I am doing since there is no collecting an organizing coupons. We will see how this goes! :) so, I am Pricematching to the four stores that I get ads for: Kroger, Randall's, HEB, Food Town. Here is what I will be price matching at Wal Mart this week:
Kroger:
- Red seedless grapes $1.00/ pound
- Bell Peppers $1.00 each
- Healthy Choice Frozen Entrees $1.20 - $0.75 printable HERE = $0.45
- Jennie-O Turkey Franks $1.00 - $1.00 printable HERE = FREE
Food Town:
- 8 oz package mushrooms $0.88
- Red Gold Tomato Sauce 4/$1.00 - $1 off 4 coupon HERE = FREE
- General Mills cereal $1.99 - up to $0.75 HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE or HERE = $1.24
- Kraft Mac & Cheese $0.66
HEB:
- large naval oranges $0.77/pound
- Mama Rose's pizzas $0.50
- Heinz Ketchup 32 oz $1.00
- Colgate toothpaste $0.99 - $1.00 HERE, HERE, or HERE = FREE
Randall's:
- Kellogs cereal $1.99 - up to $0.75 HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE or HERE = $1.24
- 5 pound bag Russet Potatoes $0.99
- Kens salad dressing $1.19
- weight watchers smart ones $1.50 - $5/10 HERE, HERE, or HERE = $1.00

My favorite Wal Mart health food
This is not a joke. Although I can understand how you could think that, given The way Wal Mart is portrayed at times. Sure there is tons of crap food there, but once I began reading labels, I found out there is some pretty great stuff there for about half the cost of a health food store.
These are some my favorite! My general guidelines are whole foods, 3 ingredients or less, and ingredients that I could buy at a normal store if I were to make it from scratch. I used to love their 6 pack of single applesauce for $1.50 because the ingredients were literally apples and water, but I just read the one I bought and it has high fructose corn syrup listed as well :-/ hopefully I just got the wrong kind and I can find the good stuff next time-keep an eye out for that!
Ok, on to the pic:
1) Organic Baby Spinach $2.98
2) 100% grape juice $2.50
3) plantains with sea salt $2.88
4) 25 oz natural peanut butter $2.98
5) 100% whole grain oats $1.00
I know not everyone agrees what "healthy" is, but these make my list almost every time I hit up crazy town (Wal Mart). And, of course all the produce prices that you can price match to whatever ANY store is having each week! Happy shopping!! :)

Family Fun on a budget
I realized at the end of our day today that we had only spent $9.00 and I could hardly believe it. How did we spend 2 hours at Chuck E Cheese, leave with lots of prizes and Ice cream, go visit a farm for an hour where we got to pet animals, feed a horse, collect fresh eggs from the coop, and get muddy!! ;)
Here is how.....
We eat a lot of string cheese in our house. There are a lot of brands to choose from. But, only one cost less than $3 and includes $3 worth of tokens at Chuck E Cheese!! Yes, Chuck E Cheese has his own brand of string cheese. Here is the back of the package...
Weird right? Anyway, we brought four of those with us today and got 48 free tokens! Since we were the first ones there, we got to keep all the strings of tickets hanging out of every game after they tested each of them for the day! Bonus! Before leaving, we collected our loot and bought some ice cream from the machine for $1.50 each. Two hours into the day, our total was $3.00!
After that, we went to this new fresh egg connection I found and spent an hour on the farm! The kids got to put on boots and run through the mud, search for eggs, pet the animals, and feed the horses. We left with two dozen eggs at $3 a dozen, totaling $6.00 for the farm. We came home, took a bath, took a nap, and had a morning full of memories (and a fridge fill of eggs) for $9.00! Not too shabby!
Let me know what your favorite family day on the cheap ideas are!!!
